Manuel Antonio National Park
7 km. South of Quepos, after driving along the road that winds its way over a series of forested hills with picturesque views, is the best known and most frequently visited park in the country. Since 1972, the national park protects a beautiful piece of tropical forest and offers access to several beaches, an abundance of wildlife, and dramatic rocky headlands with prolific island and ocean views.
Snorkeling & Scuba Diving
Costa Rica has been developing into one of the Pacific Coast's most popular diving and snorkeling destinations. The Manuel Antonio coastline is scattered with numerous islands that give dozens of options for dive sites. Wildlife Watching
If there is one place to visit in Costa Rica to be assured of seeing animals in the wild, Manuel Antonio is it. Over 350 speciesof bird are reported to be in the park and surrounding area as well as a variety of lizards, iguanas, sloths, peccaries, armadillos, raccoons, and the famous monkeys. While walking on the street or waiting at the bus stop, white-faced monkeys are most commonly seen. The rarer and endangered squirrel monkeys and howler monkeys are also present and can be a pleasant surprise.
